A report published by World Bank during 2001 indicated that the globalization has indeed decreased the poverty levels in countries however, there is still further room for the improvement as more marginalized countries need more support in further improving the lives of their citizens. This report accounted for the growth results of two dozen countries measured over the period of 20 years since their integration into world economy. The results suggested that there has been a continuous improvement in the economic growth of these countries. This report to some extent indicates the claims made in the article that the globalization has actually led to the reduction of the poverty and inequality within the world and the overall debate, therefore, may not well directed at discrediting the role of globalization in reducing the poverty.

The world is represented by a technological environment that changes at unprecedented speeds; seemingly overnight. The Internet and collaborative software have made it easier and faster to communicate across vast distances. Many companies have switched to complex and flexible organizational structures that allow them to operate competitively in a world shaped by globalization and the information revolution. Downsizing, outsourcing, and employee empowerment have become facts of life in the climate of many organizations, while job security is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. The survival of many organizations depends on the ability of the organization to rapidly change its structure, culture and products to match the changing demands of the environment. [1] This ever-changing environment has set the stage for a new dimension of project management†¦ Project Management (PM) is the discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives. This is hard enough to accomplish when the project is within a single department of a company and all team members are located on-site. Now, take all the stresses and difficulties normally associated with a project and scatter the team members all over the place; possibly in different countries and time zones. Wow, now it is really difficult and challenging to meet the three main goals of Project Management: time, cost and performance. With the scattering of the team, you have thus created the Virtual Team and the need for Virtual Project Management (VPM). Peterson Stohr define the Virtual Team – aka Geographically Dispersed Team (GDT) – as â€Å"a group of individuals who work across time, space, and organizational boundaries with links strengthened by webs of communication technology. They have complementary skills and are committed to a common purpose, have interdependent performance goals, and share an approach to work for which they hold themselves mutually accountable. † [3] Peterson Store list seven basic types of Virtual Teams: [3] Networked Teams consist of individuals who collaborate to achieve a common goal or purpose; membership is frequently diffuse and fluid. Parallel Teams work in short term to develop recommendations for an improvement in a process or system; has a distinct membership. Project or Product-Development Teams conduct projects for users or customers for a defined period of time. Tasks are usually non-routine, and the results are specific and measurable; team has decision-making authority. Work or Production Teams perform regular and ongoing work usually in one function; clearly defined membership. Service Teams support customers or the internal organization in typically a service/technical support role around the clock. Management Teams work collaboratively on a daily basis within a functional division of a corporation. Action Teams offer immediate responses activated in (typically) emergency situations. The focus of this paper will be on Networked and Project/Product Development Teams, as these most closely relate to this class and are the most prevalent in the virtual world of PM. The team does not have to be spread all over the globe for the project to be considered virtual; however, this paper will assume that is the case. Why Virtual Teams? In addition to some of the ones mentioned previously, there are several reasons and benefits that drive the formation of virtual teams. People can work from anywhere at any time, which allows employees with the required competencies for the project to be located anywhere in the world and still participate. It offers employees personal flexibility, and a flexible organization is more competitive and responsive to the marketplace. The global workday is 24 vs. 8 hours, which allows companies to keep up with the increasing globalization of trade and corporate activity. Employees typically are more productive because there is less commuting and travel time. This reduction or elimination of expenses associated with travel, lodging, etc. , results in a huge savings for the company. The list could go and on, but the point is, there is definitely a growing demand for and benefit of virtual teams. Obstacles The benefits and lucrative potential of Virtual Project Management are many, but like all good things, come at a price in the form of new management complications. Fostering open and meaningful communication, gaining the trust and respect of remote members, and building trust between members is the greatest challenge to the virtual PM. It is difficult for virtual team members to get to know each other well; consequently, they tend to communicate poorly because they often are less than comfortable with each other. [1] Communication is paramount in any project. Dennis S. and Michelle L. Reina define three types of communication that project managers must address for virtual work to be possible: contractual, communication, and competence trust. 4] Contractual trust – this is essentially doing what you say you will do. The virtual PM needs to manage expectations, establish clear boundaries, delegate appropriately, honor agreements, and, above all, be consistent in their words and actions. This kind of trust is especially frail in todays workplaces because of the legacy of layoffs, downsizing, and reorganization that reengineering and economic problems have brought to the modern corporation. Communication trust – this type of trust is, at its heart, a question of honesty and disclosure. The virtual PM has to be willing to share difficult truths with their employees, admit their mistakes, give honest feedback, and at the same time maintain confidentiality. Competence trust – this type of trust involves respecting your teammates abilities and skills, as well as your own, and helping others learn new skills. The virtual PM needs to involve others rather than trying to do it all themselves. Establishing these forms of communication can be difficult to do with local projects, and is only compounded by the lack of face-to-face contact between virtual team members. Members of virtual teams tend to develop relationships with those who are located with them rather than with those who are at distant sites. [1] The formation of these cliques can create an â€Å"us vs. them† mentality between the team members and/or project manager located elsewhere. Remote members often do not do a great job of sharing adequate amounts of information with each other and the interpretation of information may be different. Thus, not everyone is on the same page and sees the big picture. This results in members having a different perception of the project dependent on their location. Sharing information in a timely and effective manner, mainly because of time zone differences, is another concern for the virtual PM. This is becoming less and less of a problem with the latest and greatest technologies. Lastly, the lack of face-to-face interaction with the PM may cause remote team members to be unsure of what their role is in the project and what is expected of them. Technologies  Many of the forces that are driving the need for virtual project teams, namely advancements in technology, are the same ones that make it possible to overcome the many obstacles encountered in this type of project. Since it is seldom possible in the virtual project to meet face-to-face, experienced project managers recommend using a variety of electronic communications – cellular phones, pagers, faxes, e-mail, web pages, and computer-to-computer transmissions across local area and wide area networks—to distribute everything from key reports to jokes, logos, and mottoes. Effective and frequent communication helps establish that critical trust factor between virtual project members. Teleconferencing is still used extensively for communication within virtual teams; however, the Internet is what really makes the virtual project feasible these days. E-mail is hands down the main form of communication – it is cheap and just about anyone in the world can get access to it one way or another. E-fax can also be used if the remote members cannot read a file format or if a file is too large to be sent via email. Smartphones, though not as powerful as Netbooks, are essentially minicomputers. Team members may have a company issued smartphone they can use at all hours of the day for email, web access, etc. Out of all the available technologies used in the virtual environment, videoconferencing has done the most to develop that trust and familiarization between distant team members who have never met or worked together before. Members can see what their remote teammates look like and see their actions and mannerisms during the meeting. It used to be that video-enabled conference rooms had to be available in each location for all members to participate. Nowadays, with the advent of collaborative software, some of which can be free like Google Apps, videoconferencing is possible anywhere there is an available Internet connection. Conclusion There is no denying that the old way of doing business is becoming just that, â€Å"the old way of doing business†. Virtual projects are becoming more and more of a necessity and people with technical savvy and cultural openness are needed to run them. There is definitely a whole new world of opportunity and responsibility afforded to Project Managers who are willing to take on the responsibility of a virtual project. This may involve working from your hometown with people overseas or having to relocate to a foreign country. The main thing the virtual PM must do is figure out creative uses of the available communication technologies to make the virtual project more manageable. In many ways, to understand the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, the reader must also know a little about the author. Mark Twain was one of the many pen names of Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He was born in 1835 and grew up in the Mississippi River town of Hannibal, Missouri. Twain is considered the father of modern American literature, primarily because of this novel. Numerous schools have banned this novel from their reading lists because they believe it to be racist. The ironic part of this is that Clemens was an abolitionist. He hoped that people would understand and be able to see the unfairness and horrors of slavery by reading his book and seeing what slavery does to people. This book is set in the year 1852 in the south. It is a coming of age novel about an adolescent boy named Huckleberry Finn. In this early stage of his life, Huckleberry is taught many of life’s lessons that will help him deal with events that may occur later on in his life. Huck fakes his death in order to run away from his alcoholic father and his caretaker, Mrs. Watson, and also to escape from being â€Å"sivilized†. While floating down the Mississippi River, he meets Jim, the runaway slave who is owned by Mrs. Watson. His life begins to change when he is faced with many moral struggles along the way. He has to fight against society’s views, which conflict with his views. One of the most significant moral struggles that confronts him is the issue of slavery. Throughout the novel, Huck Finn becomes more self-reliant and mature. He begins to understand the evil in slavery and he realizes that he must follow his own conscience in his actions towards Jim. Even at the beginning of the novel, before Huck has gotten a chance to explore what he believes is right, Huck has grown tired of dealing with society and what society thinks is right and civilized. He says, "The Widow Douglas she took me for her son, and allowed she would sivilize me...I got into my old rags and my sugar hogshead again, and was free and satisfied (1)." Huck prefers living free and being able to think what he wants, rather than being â€Å"sivilized.† When Huck escapes from society, he runs into Jim at Jackson Island and is very happy to see him.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REPORT Working in the office environment for three years, I had been experiencing the serious effect of Occupational Overuse Syndrome (OOS), as is exampled by a study in the UK which found that 75% of laptop users who used a laptop for four hours or more a day reported back pain. With the desire to have a thorough understanding, I have been motivated to have a research on this matter. OOS (also known as Repetitive Strain Injury) is simply a term used for a range of condition characterized by discomfort of pain in the muscles, tendons or other soft tissues (Harvey, S. 2002) p. 29). Symptoms of OOS could vary depending on the person, the site and severity of injury and the nature of the tasks undertaken. However, you should pay more attention to if you have several warning signs like pain, muscle weakness, swelling, numbness, restricted mobility of the joint or loss of function as you are likely in the early stage of OSS. Changes to workplace design and p ractices can alleviate or prevent the condition. In workplace, OOS covers numerous tasks that involve repetitive or forceful movement and/ or maintenance of constrained or awkward postures.OHS hazards could be recognized as poor work organization and workstation layout, badly designed computer hardware/ software and badly designed office furniture. Identifying the hazards, the best way to control the risks is to follow the safety procedures which might be to minimize repetitive tasks, take regular rest and stretch breaks or to maintain correct postures and vary them often and so on. Depending on your specific job nature, you could take different actions to better manage the symptoms. An Australian study conducted by Comcare, for example, surveyed 2,000 ACT government workers with alarming results. For my specific case, dealing much with the paper work required me to spend lots of time keying in data, having the fixed posture and focusing my eyes at the same distance point for extended period of time.At the early time, I had no idea about the possible hazards and felt so comfortable with my work. However, my colleagues who had experienced the serious effects warned me about the injuries which result from inappropriate computer use. They could be posture-related injuries, overuse injuries of the upper limbs or eyestrain. As the result, several ways were suggested for the workstation comfort and safety. I found that the most efficient tips for the matter is that you should have a good posture (as illustrated in the below picture), your furniture should be adjustable and st rict time limits break should be applied.To sum up, OOS could happen in all workplace, for all kind of occupations. Good vs. bad, technology and its domination or in this sense, mans reliance on technology and them taking the world they live in, the meant to be utopia, for granted. Love also plays a larger role than usual. The mood of the film is not exactly dark but it has quite a few dark moments. It is some what dystopian and pessimistic, with a some what bleak look for the future in term of security and personal well-being. The language used in Minority Report is the same as nowadays with the exception of the technical jargon but which is nothing too advanced. As soon as I joined them I felt I made everybody uneasy including my friend, his father said grace and didn’t talk at all. I ate quietly and didn’t know how to flee away. They all talked in their native language and I was unaware of their conversation. I felt really awkward when finally his younger brother told me that they don’t like people from other races, as they are usually illicit and have no place in a respected family. I excused myself and quickly departed from there, as I could no longer maintain my composure and felt entirely bitter about how they made me feel vulnerable and worthless. The feeling still l ingers on, when I am invited to a dinner at someone’s house as I cannot seem to forget the incident which made me feel insignificant and flawed. People judge without even knowing individuals, keeping in the garden their ethnicity. These types of presumptions not only make others negative about the different communities but it extends the trend of stereotyping to a great extent. Skin color, gender, religious beliefs, ethnicity, skills, and distinct qualities are reasons which incline people towards stereotyping. However, in my scenario, the presumption made it easier for them to judge me without even knowing me for all. It only shows the limited understanding of human psychology one has or is developed in him. This also shows the well knitted believes in a specific community about others.

This fact alone will increase the demand on the remaining nurses leading to nurse burn out and increased turnover rates. Nurses are the largest group of health care professionals in America, but the majority of the nurses are close to retirement age (Institute of Medicine [IOM], 2010). This paper will address the issue of nursing shortage, nurse turnover and how nurse leaders and managers are approaching these issues, along with the personal and professional philosophy of nursing of the author of this paper. There are many reasons why a nursing shortage exists, and why it is only going to get worse over the next several years. The median age of the nursing workforce is 46 years of age and almost 50 percent of all nurses are close to retirement, which will substantially impact the nursing shortage (American Nurses Association, 2013). The Affordable Care Act of 2010 ensures that every American have access to affordable health care (U. S. Department of Health Human Services, 2013). This places an additional demand for nurses, and further increases the shortage. The results of the advances in medicine has increased the average life span, increasing the number of people living with chronic illness, and also increasing patient acuity levels which in turn increases the demand for advanced educated practioners. Nursing colleges and universities across the county are struggling to expand their enrollment levels in order to meet the rising demand for nursing care (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2012). Reductions in nursing budgets together with the growing nursing shortage has resulted in nurses working more, taking care of sicker patients and at risk for making mistakes. This further complicates the nursing shortage as this type of environment only drives the current nursing force away from the bedside. The current Registered Nurse turnover rate is 14% (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2012). One incentive that management and leadership nurses should be aspiring to is Magnet Status. The American Nurses Association in 1990 developed the Magnet status in an effort to reward hospitals that attract and retain nurses who demonstrate excellence in nursing practice (American Nurses Credentialing Center, 2013).

Business Plan Bakery Example The Planning Process in Appendix A has been used as a planning tool to ensure the successful setting up of the new bakery. Starting with Gathering information, the business will start as a sole trader, with me being its owner as self-employed. According to Gov.uk (2016) self-employed means to run your own business as an individual. The bakery will be called The Farmhouse as seen in Appendix F . As a result, it will derive its name from the animal and vegetable shaped bread it will be selling, this being the competitive advantage, which resulted from Porters Five Forces Analysis ( Appendix B ). In terms of market research, it has been found that the business can effectively target families with children aged between 5 -14, which represents 14% of Lutons population, as seen in Appendix D . This gap emerged, after assessing the strengths and weaknesses of, Greggs, one major competitor within the bakery industry in the Mall (Appendix I) . Greggs has two shops and provide products similar to the new bakery, such as pastries, bread, and doughnuts (Appendix H ). According to Marketline (2016), one of Greggs weakness is concentrated operations, which means the business, fails to meet the needs of a specific market in terms of geographic reach. Greggs, is also facing tough competition from emerging businesses, as well as existing competitors, by lacking products, service offering, store size and quality food (Marketline, 2016). Therefore, the future goal of The Farmhouse will consist of providing creative and high quality products, to promote wellbeing within the community it operates, as seen in Appendix J . The legal requirements to start a bakery include Sale of Food licence and Food Preparation Licence approved by Luton Borough Council (GOV.UK, 2015), The General Food Law Regulation and The Food Safety Act 1990, also an inspection of the premises must be carried out to ensure Health and Safety regulations are put in place (HSE, 2016). According to Boddy (2014, p. 6) the first aspect of successfully planting the roots of a business, is to draw resources from the external environment making up the Inputs, as seen in Appendix E . One of the most important resources is Premises. The Farmhouse will be located in Luton Mall, with an average weekly footfall of 405,000 people (Completely Group, 2016). Feasibility is a key, therefore, a small unit has been chosen, costing  £1500/month, to minimise costs and ensure a profit will be made without any irrelevant costs being incurred see Appendix K . Capital is also important in funding the business, to acquire its resources. Therefore, a loan will be borrowed, amounting  £22,000, which will be used on different aspects, to successfully start the business venture, as seen in Appendix L . In terms of Labour, to ensure viability and to meet the vision of the new business, it is needed to have two part-time bakers, two part-time kitchen porters and two part-time shop assistant s and myself as an accountant and decision maker, which is analysed in stage 2 of the Business Plan. Stage 2 Human Resources Boddy (2014, p.340) states that to ensure that a business has the right employees to achieve its goals, the process needed to be taken into consideration is human resource planning, job analysis, employee recruitment and selection. The same approach will be taken by The Farmhouse. A job analysis will be compiled for each individual role, followed by recruitment process and selection. Job Analysis Job analysis starts with collecting data to create a job description, which will outline the purpose of a job, main responsibilities and duties, followed by what skills and knowledge the individual should possess (Boddy, 2014 p.348). The data will be collected from interviewing and observing current job holders, as suggested by Boddy (2014, p.340). It is also efficient to ensure, that as a new business, employees with broad competencies will be taken on board. This can ensure that more skills can be leveraged upon, being more cost effective. As the business owner, I will directly manage every employee as I possess skills such as finance, customer service, business focused, customer friendly, Patience, Passionate and always looking for new opportunities. Through the job analysis it has been identified that two part-time bakers will be needed to carry out the activities of the new business, ensuring its success. Therefore, a job description (JD) has been complied as seen in Appendix M . The baker will play an important role within the business, as it will provide creativity, efficiency and innovation. Next employees needed to start the business are the kitchen porters. They will also play a key in effectively running the business. They will be the second on the line employees, responsible with ensuring that the business adheres to the Food and Hygiene Act. These are all outlined in the Job Description (Appendix N ). Finally, shop assistants, are also valuable to the business, as they will sell the baked goods. They will also receive feedback and communicate to the owner, along with ensuring that customers receive the best service possible (Appendix O ). Recruitment and Selection Process Using Appendix P as the process, starting with advertising, the vacant positions will be advertised through jobs websites, such as Indeed, Total jobs and Monster, also on the Malls website. After the deadline, every application will be assessed and carefully selected for the interview stage. Boddy (2014, p.351) stated that interview remains popular as it has low direct costs, therefore, it results in being an efficient practice in selecting suitable candidates. However, before finalising recruitment, on crucial step in selecting candidates, is to see them perform on the job. Gov.uk (2016) states that a work trial is a way of trying out a potential employee before offering them a job, therefore, every employee will be supervised under a trial shift, to check performance and suitability for the job it is required to performed. An employees handbook will be compiled, to ensure the right policies and procedures are followed by all employees within the business. Stage 3 To successfully manage the new business, an organizational structure has been created ( Appendix Q ). Thus, having a narrow span of control, staff will have more responsibilities which results in less supervision and communication is effective, leaving no space for business processes waste (Boddy, 2014 p.311). Starting with the inputs, using Appendix E , after taking out a loan, renting premises, bargained with suppliers on best prices, and hired the most suitable employees, these resources go through operational processes. Part of the competitive advantage, baking is going to be done on site, having fresh baked goods, will overcome competition and attract customers. As customers come in, there will be refrigerators on each side of the shop, with fresh baked goods, such as animal and vegetable shaped bread, pastries, savory goods and doughnuts. They will then pick their goods and come at the till where the shop assistant will politely and eagerly serve the customer, asking for anonymous feedback at the end of customer service. Then the goods are handed back to the customer in a bag with a receipt, all these outlined in Appendix R . It is very important to collect feedback from to continually improve on the processes, and reduce processes waste. No matter the role, people contribute to the overall performance of a business by adding value to the resources.   Thus, the feedback gathered from customers is communicated to employees through the monthly appraisals along with an assessment of everyones performance., this being part of the continuous improvement process (Boddy, 2014 p.434). Therefore, a human relations culture approach is taken, where the owner takes part in the daily tasks of the business, and makes employees attached, thus encouraging cohesiveness and membership, leading to effectiveness and commitment (Boddy, 2014 p. 85) The kind of baked goods The Farmhouse will provide are listed in Appendix S. All the mentioned aspects, such as fresh baked goods, low prices and with the vision of looking after the welfare of people within the community lead towards a good reputation, thus, being able to expand and grow as an organisation to make a profit. As a future vision, using the continual improvement process model in Appendix T , adaptability will be a key aspect in assimilating feedback and changes occurring within the Macro and Micro environment, to create sustainability (Boddy, 2014 p29). Boddy (2014 p. 29) also states that by making productive use not just of financial and physical resources, but also of human and natural ones companies will excel in achieving its goals and, thus becoming successful. This is the exact strategy the small bakery will adopt to achieve success. To reduce baked goods waste, one of the ways of approaching it, is that all the former foodstuffs can be converted into quality animal feed, therefore, avoiding negative impact on the environment. Thus, all foodstuffs that are not suitable for human consumption, can be resold to factories that produce animal feed, whilst complying with the Feed Hygiene Regulations EU 183/2005 (Featherstone, 2013). Another way is to adhere to the Weights and Measures Act 1985, which states that bread should be produced in smaller quantities, such as 400g a loaf, to avoid waste (Legislation,1985). Sacred Scripture :: essays research papers

The term 'Scripture' refers to the sacred writing of the Old and New Testament. Sacred Scripture are the books which 'contain the truth of God?s revelation and were composed by human authors inspired by the Holy Spirit' (CCC 105). Sacred Scripture is one of the several names denoting the inspired writings which make up the Old and New Testament. The words of the Sacred Scriptures, 'for their part proclaim the works and bring light to the mystery they contain'. The term 'Tradition' refers to the living transmission of the Gospel in the Church. ?The oral preaching of the Apostles, and the written message of salvation under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, are conserved and handed on as a deposit of faith through the apostolic succession in the Church? (CCC 77-78). Sacred or apostolic tradition consists of the teachings that the apostles passed on orally through their preaching. These teachings overlap with those contained in Scripture, but the mode of their transmission is different. However, Tradition generally refers to Christian teachings and practices outside of the Bible that are handed down from generation to generation. Sacred Scripture and Tradition consist of similar teachings, but these teachings are transmitted in different ways, Sacred Scripture is the speech of God as it is put down in writing under the breath of the Holy Spirit (CCC 81) while, Tradition transmits in its entirety the Word of God which has been entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit (CCC 81) Scripture and Tradition are related in Catholic Theology. They are connected to one another, ?Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture make up a single deposit of the Word of God? (CCC 97). ?Both the living Tradition and the written Scripture have their common source in the revelation of God in Jesus Christ? (CCC 75-82). Catholics view Scripture and Tradition as two sources of revelation. Revelation is the way in which God reveals his divine plan to all mankind, it is ?God?s communication of himself, by which he makes known the mystery of his divine plan? (CCC 50). God reveals himself through Sacred Scripture and Catholic Tradition. God revealed himself most fully through the Son (The Word), Jesus Christ, and there will be no further Revelation after him. However, through Scripture and Tradition, the mystery of God has been passed down through the ages.

How useful is social class Essay

How useful is social class as a variable for segmenting consumer markets? Explore. In the early days of segmentation, according to Schiffman, it was not unusual to apply only one segmentation criterion, e.g. demographic segmentation. Today marketers have realized that it is to simplified to apply only one criterion for segmenting complex markets. Therefore, it is common to combine several criteria to create rich and comprehensive segmentation profiles in order to find the most beneficial target markets for one’s product. Shortly, it can be argued that geographic and demographic variables help to locate a certain target market, whereas psycho-graphic and socio-cultural variables help describe who its members are, how they think and how they feel. Demographic is segmenting customers based on age, income, gender, etc. Geographic is based on the region or country they live in. psycho-graphic is based on their personality and socio-cultural segmentation is segmenting the market based on their subculture, religion, social class, family lifestyle/life-cycle (single, married etc). Currently, we will focus on the importance of segmenting the consumer markets based on their social class. Almost every society has some form of a social class structure. According to Kotler, Social classes are society’s relatively permanent and ordered divisions whose members share similar values, interest, and behaviors. Society is mainly divided into three major classes, Upper, Middle and Lower. But social scientists have identified that society can be classified into seven social classes. They are the Upper Uppers, Lower Uppers, Upper Middles, Middle Class, Working Class, Upper Lower, and Lower Lowers (See Appendix I). Companies need to consider social class as a variable for segmenting the consumer markets because it is useful for them in determining their target market. It helps them in setting the different marketing mix for different  target market based on their social class. For example, a car company like Toyota produces many different types of car with different brands; prices and which are targeted to different people. The expensive cars like Land Cruiser and Celica is targeted to the upper class. While their other brands like Soluna and Toyota Kijang is mainly focused on the middle and working class. Marketers are also interested in social class because people within a given social class tend to show similar buying behavior. It helps the marketers in setting the price and the quality to use for their product. For instance the Upper Uppers way of decision-making of purchasing a product and the product they purchase would be different from those of the Upper Lower. They would prefer to purchase a more expensive product with good quality. They would not go for cheap products thinking that because if it is inexpensive, it is sure an inferior product. For example, in choosing a car. The upper class would prefer to buy something more elite and exclusive like Mercedes and Lexus since it has a class, and is more of a good quality product. They would not go for something like Timor. Therefore, it is vital that marketers consider the social class when segmenting consumers because it influences on consumer purchasing decision-making. Here, marketers know that their upper class consumers see the quality comparing to price. So they have to develop a product with merit features, since the society is affordable to pay for the product. Besides aiming on target market and setting the price, it also helps the marketers in deciding their advertising activities. The way a company advertises for an expensive and exclusive products will be different from the way they advertise a low quality product. I’m sure a marketer would not waste a lot of money in their advertising campaign for an inferior product that is targeted to the middle and lower class. Example, for soap products like Lux and Giv. Lux Company focuses on middle to upper class as their target market. To make it look like a pricier product, they use famous  actresses as their model. At times, the model in the advertising do effect on the consumer decision-making. While Giv Company focuses more on lower class consumers. They are less bother to hire expensive models for their advertising. They would go for a more simple advertising campaign. Overall, I would like to state that if marketers use social classes in targeting their consumer markets, they will be able to easily identify their target, understand their consumer behavior, minimize risk for new products and services and hence can organize successful marketing strategies in which they can sell their products in a better way and can gain more profit. They will also be able to know about the needs of their customers and hence can serve them better in the future.

God’s World Essay

The â€Å"Zaabalawi† was written by Naguib Mahfouz (1911-2006) and published on 1963 in the collection of stories, God’s World (Dunya Allah). The central character is afflicted with a disease that no doctors or any other human being can cure. Written in the first person, the narrator remembered during his childhood a folktale saying that there is an extraordinary person named â€Å"Zaabalawi† who can cure any illnesses and diseases. This person possesses healing powers of such magnitude that affliction such as what the narrator has will surely be healed. The protagonist started to half-heartedly look for Zaabalawi, visiting and meeting diverse characters during his quest. He met a lawyer, a bookseller, a government officer, a calligrapher, a musician and a drunkard – all of these persons have somehow met or known Zaabalawi. The first person that the narrator met was Sheikh Quamar, who is a prominent lawyer in Cairo, Egypt. Quamar offered little help with the quest because it seems a long time ago since he last had contact with Zaabalawi. In this instance, it seems that the author Mahfouz is signifying that this person has forgotten Zaabalawi (his spirituality) due to his materialistic needs and successes in life. This type of person can be found all over the world; the person who puts material things and worldly desires primary in his life. Politicians may be inadvertently touched by this characterization. The second person that the narrator met was the District Officer. The officer informed the narrator that he hasn’t seen Zaabalawi for such a long time now for being so busy with his myriad functions and being preoccupied with worldy cares. He felt joy before during his youthful days when he was Zaabalawi and yet has slowly forgotten those days as he became more embroiled with what the world and the government responsibilities offer him. He drew the narrator a map with a fee so that he will be guided in his quest for Zaabalawi. He then guided the narrator inside the calligrapher’s house, Hassanein. This person personified those of us who had already experienced happiness in living a much more simpler life. However, this was only from a brief period in his life for now, he had experienced what it feels like to have power and to be relied upon by thousands of people. Power, indeed, is heady and can ruin one’s self. Hassanein is faithful to Zaabalawi’s memory. His behavior and style of living mirrors his spirituality and servitude toward Allah. He said that in everything that he does, he felt the presence of Zaabalawi. He encouraged the narrator with his sayings that he believed that the narrator will be healed by Zaabalawi. Hassanein also described Zaabalawi’s nature as elusive such that he may be in the vicinity any moment or might not appear in a person’s lifetime. Hassanein symbolizes the faithful followers of God. He has chosen to live life in a simpler term and welcome people in all walks of life without prejudice and bias. He believes in God and is shown through his works. The narrator is then directed towards the house of a famous musician, Sheikh Gad, who looks very serene and is a meditative man. Personal Classroom Management Plan Essay

My personal philosophy of classroom management of a preschool or elementary school settings that it requires several things first, of all you have to have patience, determination, and motivation. You have to be flexible, careful in planning, and being very consistence. You have to be prepared and ready to manage your classroom from day one. Classroom does not come well-managed you have to mold yourself and your assistant to help your classroom be well-managed. I present myself as a democratic model because it helps you with the parents, and the community beside the students that everyone gets involve to help make the school and the students safe and keep them under control. This is when I would use Wong’s Model because it helps you manage your classroom from the very first day of school. This would help me prepared myself for  what’s to come and how I would implement my lessons and rules for the classroom as well as the students. You come up with a technique to teach the kids and go over it repeatedly. Especially the ages that I teach because they are young from ages 2 1/2to 4 years old so, you will have to implement it more than once. I would also use the Win-Win Discipline as well, because if you have students in you classroom that is constantly gives you problems or have trouble listen you cause this method to help meet the deeper needs of the students and respond to the causes of misbehavior in addition to eliminating interruption in the classroom. I want to help my students not call them out or label them as a problem child or student. This is just a portion of my philosophy to help me manage my classroom in a better why. Walk in quietly (entering a new zone) 2. Put things away (backpack, coats) 3. Teacher will model the procedure at the beginning of circle time for the first week of school. Teacher will practice the procedure the first couple of days until satisfied. Teacher and students will repeat when reinforcement is needed and as we get new students. Assessment and Feedback: Teacher will watch for the students that follow the steps correctly and will positively reinforce the students. For the students that is not doing it correctly, teacher will redirect them into doing so. Procedure Steps or Activity: 1. Teacher will turn off light to let them know how much time they have until clean up. 2. When the time is up, Teacher will clap hands twice. 3. Teacher will inform the students that it is clean up time. 4. Teacher will sing a song (It’s time to put the toys away). 5. Teacher will sound a bell alarming the students that it is a fire drill. 2. The students will line up quickly at the exit door. 3. Teacher will gather all the necessary items. 4. Teacher will model the procedure before lunch time for the first week of school. Teacher  will practiced the procedure a few times the first day until satisfactory. Teacher and students will repeat when reinforcement is needed or when new students join the class. Assessment and Feedback: Teacher will watch for students that follow the steps correctly and will positively reinforce the students. Procedure Steps or Activity: 1. Students comes in from outside, they take off their coats. 2. Students are then to sit down on the rug. 3. Teacher will call 3 to 4 students over to wash their hands. 4. Students are to return to rug. 5. Teacher will call students to table when lunch is ready. Rules and Consequences Part One: 1. Come to class prepared and ready to work. 2. Have a winning attitude. 3. Everyone deserves respect. 4. Use kind words at all times. 5. Do your very best. 6. Have fun while you learn. The consequences for every action is that for the first, offence is the students will get a verbal warning and I will talk with them about there behavior, the students will know that we do not tolerate that type of behavior. Second offence is that I would call their parents to have a parent teacher conference to speak with them about their child behavior in the classroom. Create a plan on what we can do together as a team so it would not happen again. Third offence is that the students will be sent to the office and probably would be suspended for a day out of school. If it  is the third offence and they forget their homework I would call the student parents and explain the situation of their child and would have the student take 10-15 minutes from recess time to make their work up. As a teacher will let the students know what type of behavior that I tolerate in my classroom on the very first day. I will print out a copy of the rules for the students to put in their agenda, and one for the parents to keep at home. Once we have practiced the rules for the classroom, I would have the students to recite it aloud once a week to earn extra points. Communication I would communicate with my parents through newsletter. Through a newsletter the parent will know what their child is doing weekly. The newsletter will have the lesson that we would learn for the week, any important announcements, and what important meetings or announcement that is up coming. I would also communicate with the parents through phone by letting them know each week how their child is doing, what they have accomplished so far, and if they need help in any subject. Finally, I would communicate with my parents through email, because every parent do not have a phone, so if they have a computer they can also see what their child is doing and what we have cover so far. I will have a tutorial set up for parents that need help with different lesson to be able to help their child be successful and excel further in their education. Student Engagement Strategies The teacher must use varied viewpoints, theory ways of knowing, and methods of inquiry in teaching subject matter concepts. First, one way the teacher can engage strategies is to simply the lesson for the students and give them an opportunity to help find themselves as well as the answer. Second, you can use comics and graphic novels to engage young boys more than girls, into reading. Images are powerful, so young boys are very interested in it. The teachers can develop a complex discussion from a simple idea and help stimulate student’s critical thinking. Finally, teachers must engage students in generating knowledge and testing hypotheses according to the methods of inquiry and standards of evidence used in the discipline. I would use this image when I am teaching circle time or morning session. This  is teaching the students there ABC’s, days of the week, and colors with shapes, just to name a few. I would use this image when I want the students to ask questions quietly and not all at one time talking over each other. I would post this in my circle time area reminding them what to do when they have a questions to ask. Professionalism To be professional with each of the following: with students, parents, co – workers and administrators is to be able to multi task. Inspire the trust of your clients of your students and parents. First, impression from the first day of school year is very important. Dress like a professional. Teachers should arrive at work looking the part. Always be on time, if you arrive 10 to 15 minutes before work is being on time. You will have time to prepare and go over your lesson before your class starts. Follow procedures and the protocol expected at your school. Professionals embrace the corporate identity and values and model these for the clients in this case, the children they teach. Take charge of your classroom, you have to let the students know from the very first day of school what you want from them and the rules and consequences for their actions. Take pride in the process and product. Professionally presented to your supervisor your notes and handouts. Never miss a dead line, try to be on time with your assignments, and do not way until the very last minute. Treat your colleagues and supervisors with respect. Model respect for authority for your students and gaining their respect will be much easier for you. Be passionate, positive, and enthusiastic about your work. A professional teacher will not create negativity in a staff room or engage in mindless gossip and the spreading of dissent. Take interest in every child. To better you get to know your students, the more influence you have on your students the better their attitude will be toward your subject and on their lives. Consult parents, having them involve  with you for the support of the students and the school the better it will be. Support your colleagues and school management walk the talk. Put the needs of the institution above your own. You are one person in a group of professionals who share a common goal and vision. In dealing with my strengths of my students and parents, we need to be passionate, open – minded, and honest. You have to let parents know in anyway that you are there for them. You get the parents involve with the students education and as what they have questions about. As for co- workers, you just be respectful to one another. Keep the gossip to yourself and stay away from negativity. For administrators you have to be professional at all times, by dressing appropriate, being on time, have and open- mind. The area that I can improve in is being more open- minded, by letting my students be more involved in help planning the lesson and activity in the classroom. Let the parents be more involved by asking questions for example: what would they like to see more from their students in the classroom settings. Set up computer tutorial classes for the parents that do not know how to work the computer. The importance of being professional is a multi-task, because you have to be professional in many different ways, dress appropriate have people person skills, be polite, be a quick thinker and have individuals that are able to demonstrate professional attitude both in the office and in the field.
